Spread the Word

Human trafficking is a serious issue that is taking place all around the world. It is a criminal activity where people are forced to work under threat or violence and are unable to walk away. Human trafficking is a type of slavery and it affects so many innocent peoples lives.

In the movie Taken, 17 year old Kim convinces her dad to let her travel to Paris with her friend Amanda. When they arrive at Paris, they share a cab with a stranger on the way to the place they are staying at. While in the cab, Amanda slips that they are staying there alone. One night, the stranger and his gang of other human traffickers break into their house and kidnap them. They were eventually sold as prostitutes and had no escape.

Recently in class we studied slavery. I had to do a report on a specific type of slavery called human trafficking. This movie really relates to what I learned in class because it is a specific example of human trafficking that shows how common it is and how it can happen to anyone. Also, it plays how serious human trafficking really is because of its terrible affect on many peoples lives.

Though we may not realize it, human trafficking is very common and affects many people in very bad ways. Learning about human trafficking and watching Taken really showed how serious this issue is and how much we need to stop it for good. It is not right for so many people to be in harm because of human trafficking. Therefore, by learning about it and watching a movie that displays it, I have learned how common this issue is, and that other people need to know about it too, so human trafficking can be ended once and for all.
