War is Unnecessary

Have you ever thought why everyone in the world can’t just get along without having enemies or feuds between others? I have thought this myself before and I bet many other people have as well. War is tearing our world apart and I don’t understand why war has to even happen. War is the reason why many families are separated from their loved ones, and why many people have lost their loved ones too. Also, war is the reason why many countries are struggling to maintain a safe environment, and it is the reason for countries economy to struggle too. If you think about it, there isn’t one good reason for why there should be war.
Many kids have to live for many months or even years without their mother, father, or another sibling because of war. Over 2.5 million U.S soldiers were deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, which means over 2.5 million kids were worrying, wondering if or when their mother or father would be coming home or if they would even come home. Also, war isn’t cheap, it costs our country millions of dollars to send our troops to war because they need to pay for all the necessities needed in war such as, guns, ammo, etc. More importantly, millions of lives have been taken by war, which means that millions of people would have been able to live a full life if it hadn’t been for war. If you ask me, I don’t think war is worth it because if everyone just got along there wouldn’t be a reason for killing people.
War relates to many topics that we have studied so far this year in History class. War took place in many of the early English settlements in America. For example, at Jamestown the English killed many Native Americans so they could gain more land to expand their territory in the New World. What’s ironic is that the Natives helped the English survive by teaching them how to grow crops and live off of the land, and the English still killed many Native tribes. See now if the English didn’t kill the Natives, they could have both lived together and had a more successful settlement and nobody would have been killed. Also, during King Phillip’s War, which was between the English settlers and the Native Americans, 40% of the Natives were killed. There were so many lives that were taken by this war and in every other war that has occurred in our World’s history.
There isn’t one good reason for war to occur and that’s what everyone in this world needs to realize. If everyone manages to realize that war is pointless, then many lives of innocent people will be saved, countries will save their money, and no more families will have to worry about deployed loved ones away from home. I hope many people will be able to spread the word that war is pointless, and that maybe one day everyone in the world could get along and solve problems without killing each other.

  1. Great job Matt! I really enjoyed your post. When I saw your title I wanted to read it because it seemed interesting.I liked when you talked about the 2.5 million kids worrying about their parents. It made me think about all of those kids and how hard it must be for them. Overall great job Matt!
